What Counts Toward AI Words?
Counts:
- Words you write while Brinley suggests improvements
- Scenes where Brinley provides real-time assistance
- Using Brinley to brainstorm, outline, or plan
- Asking Brinley to rewrite or improve passages
Doesn't count:
- Words you write with AI turned off
- Reading your manuscript
- Organizing AWE data
- Exporting your work
- Searching your project
- Asking Brinley simple questions ("What color are Elena's eyes?")
How to Check Your Usage
Ask Brinley: "How many AI words have I used this month?"
Or check manually: Settings > Usage > AI Words This Month
What Happens When You Hit the Limit?
You can still:
- Write without AI assistance (unlimited)
- Read and edit existing work
- Organize AWE data
- Search your project
- Export your manuscript
- Ask Brinley factual questions about your story
You can't:
- Get AI writing suggestions
- Have Brinley help brainstorm
- Use AI to improve prose
- Get plot/character development help
Your options:
- Turn off AI and keep writing manually until next month
- Upgrade to a higher tier
- Wait for monthly reset (1st of the month)

- They reset Feb 1st
Downgrading
Takes effect next billing cycle:
- Keep current features until renewal
- Word limit adjusts on next billing date
- Export formats change next cycle
Example: Author → Novelist on Jan 15
- Keep 200K words until Feb 1st
- Feb 1st: Drops to 50K words
- No immediate change
